“Everything changed that day.”

Yeah.. the economy took a brief hit. For me that meant my unemployment was probably 6 months longer than it would have been otherwise. I was already unemployed.

But the Great American Economy keeps on rolling. The only thing that really changed is Bush, et al, got justification for his racist, right-wing, exclusionary brand of politics. Everyone started flying more US flags. All things French were cowardly and “un-American” (well DUH!) and we started using terms like “Freedom fries”.

What’s changed? Today I live in another state, make about 1/3 of what I was making when I was employed before 9/11 and am dating a wonderful woman.

Things change. But not because of 9/11.

So, in honor of 9/11 and everyone who died that day, I’m going to…

Get on with my life.
